Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club.- Reunirá una flota de cruceros de los distintos clubes del Campo de Gibraltar y Ceuta.
Dos días de regata, sábado y domingo, con un gran campo de regata fuera y dentro de la bahía en un paraje espectacular y que tendrá una gran fiesta, la Round the Rock, organizada por el Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club situado en Coaling Island.
Una regata muy interesante por la táctica que los patrones tendrán que lidiar debido al trafico de buques y los intensos vientos que podrían encontrarse en uno de los recorridos alrededor de la roca, así como las corrientes, muy fuertes en Punta Europa.
El sábado 30, están previstas realizar dos pruebas barlovento-sotavento en el interior de la bahía y si las condiciones lo permiten, la prueba mas interesante será el domingo 31 con la vuelta al peñón, con un testigo de excepción, el faro de Punta Europa, tras lo cual se realizará la entrega de premios en la sede del RGYC, con la presencia de su patrocinador, Beck´s, de Anglo Hispano.
Muchas opciones de llevarse el título este año, el Bongani de Steve Lawson, el Noticia II de Alberto Weill procedente de Ceuta o el Titicaca, del vicecomodoro del RGYC Tony Segovia.
El Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club fue fundado en 1829 siendo su misión principal la de promover la navegación en el área de Gibraltar. Cuenta entre su flota de vela ligera numerosos 420, laser y la clase Victory con varios campeonatos a lo largo del año.
A new edition of Beck´s Gibraltar Regatta
The Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club organizes a new edition of the Beck’s regatta on July 30th and 31st, 2022, which will bring together a fleet of cruiser sailing yachts from Campo de Gibraltar and Ceuta.
A very interesting regatta due to the tactics that the skippers will have to deal with, the commercial ship traffic, the intense winds that could be found around the rock, as well as the currents, which can be very strong off Europa Point.
On Saturday 30th, two windward-leeward races are planned in the northern end of the Bay. If the conditions permit, the most interesting test will be on Sunday 31st, with the fleet sailing round the rock, past the Europa Point lighthouse. The weekend racing will conclude with the presentation of trophies held at the RGYC clubhouse, in the presence of its sponsor, Becks, from Anglo Hispano.
There are a number of contenders to win this year’s Beck’s Regatta including Steve Lawson on Bongani, Alberto Weil on Noticia II from Ceuta or Tony Segovia the RGYC’s Vice-Commodore onboard Titicaca.
The Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club was founded in 1829 and its main mission is to promote sailing in the Gibraltar area. It counts among its dinghy fleet numerous laser picos, lasers and Victory class keel boats.
